Objective
To assess the possible causes of a prototype signal processing subsystem not meeting performance targets.
Approach
To meet tight constraints on expenditure, Systems4Silicon submitted a proposal for a series of small, work packages to progress the investigation in carefully controlled steps. The first work package described a theoretical analysis of the design, including technical commentary on the practical characteristics of critical aspects such as electromagnetic coupling, clock generation and the non-ideal behaviour of ADCs.
Outcome
Building upon the findings of the first investigation, two follow-on work packages were proposed and implemented:
Benefits
The bottleneck that had been stalling the project was relieved by engaging consultants as a fresh set of experienced eyes. Systems4Silicon’s investigations provided evidence and solutions upon which to base decisions while documenting valuable know-how regarding the design of high sensitivity signal detection sub-systems.
